Looking for the Great-Great-Grandfather's family. He was born on Cape Breton Island in April 1953. His name was Daniel Angus MacLaine. May have been Angus Daniel. He had a son Donald in Nova Scotia before coming to the States between 1880 and 1882 where he settled in Cutler, Maine. His sister's name was Mary and she married Fredrick Alden. |

Would there be any descendants out there of Roy Mac Lean born on P.E.I. on Dec.24,1887? His parents were Robert Mac Lean and Agnes Daley.Agnes was from Yarmouth,N.S.and was aged 33 in the 1901 census in District 42 Yarmouth.

Two summers ago, my husband and my two sons took a trip to Scotland. We visited and stayed on the Isle of Mull. We went to Duart Castle and it was wonderful. I have always been proud of my celtic roots, and have tried to pass this to my sons. We are leaving Alberta and moving to PEI. My family all live there and it will be an adventure for us. I wonder are there any MacLean gatherings this year on the Island?

Google search led me to this. I was amazed to read of Donald MacFadyen, who was my grandfather, born in Mount Forest Ontario in 1883, served in WWI, and lived mostly in New York. I have been trying to construct a genealogy and this seems a perfect fit. |

In his history of the Clan Maclean, "The Clan Gillean", the Rev J Sinclair MacLean writes that Allan son of Archibald, son of Donald of Gunna son of Allan Maclean of Auchnasaul had two sons, Donald and Lachlan. I am descended from Donald, brother of Lachlan, and have been trying for some time to trace a number of Donald's descendants who, according to MacLean Sinclair, left Scotland and settled in NS. One of Donald's sons, a Neil, left Rum and went to Coll.
MacLean Sinclair writes that this Neil had a large family and that all his
sons except a Donald, who stayed on Coll, went to Cape Breton. MacLean
Sinclair does not give their names or the place they settled. The Donald
who stayed on Coll also had a large family and again MacLean Sinclair writes that all but two of his sons left Coll for Cape Breton. MacLean Sinclair does not name Donald's sons who left but from the Coll OPR they were Lachlan, Neil, Allan and Archibald.
Does anyone know what became of these Macleans or their descendants, assuming always that MacLean Sinclair is correct in his ststements.
