I believe Donald and Margaret had a son Donald born about 1800.
Ernie MacLean told me that a John Mclean and wife Catherine and three sons, George, Hugh and John came out in 1791 and granted land on the south side of Black River near the mouth.
Ernie "felt" that there was a connection between the Black River Mcleans and those in Escuminac but as far as I know he never found a definite link.

Marriage certificate states that Mary MacLean married Thomas Windle Aug. 16, 1824. Mary was d/o Donald MacLean and Margaret MacRay of Escuminac, Northumberland Co. New Brunswick, Canada. I am trying to find out more about Donald. It is possible he also had brother John in the area.

I have looked at some of the genealogies that are presented here--fablous work. I am having trouble finding a Lachlan McLean b abt 1810 Argyll lived Ont and Michigan wife Margaret Campbell abt 1832 first came to Canada to Cape Breton Island On gravesite of Maragaret is written Margaret Campbell wife of Lachlan McLean Chief date 15 March 1865 Tiverton Ontario cemetery. After her death Lachlan went to live in Caseville, Michigan with his son Hector. I am Lachlan's great great grand daughter. I want to find out where in Scotland that he an his wife came from. My dad Hugh was born in Nova Scotia and so was my grandfather Malcolm. I was take to Scotland in 1974 to see Duart Castle. Its was amazing to see and to see where my family came from. My first cousin Bruce does the family tree for the family and he does just a great job at it. |

my mother's father was william bowler of millinocket maine and his family was the mac leans(spelling unsure) from Prince Edward Island. She lost track of that side of her family when her dad died at an early age. we were hoping to find information. |
