Great information and community. Found this via links from Macleanwines.com after finding a bottle. Of interest since my paternal grandmother was Mary Catherine MacLean of Canada (NB or NS?), born 1888 I think. She had some strong affinity with Camerons as well. An interesting site discovered by accident. I am researching a relative Eliza Showell, she was one of the home children sent to Canada from England sailing in 1908. She was placed with Angus McLean (b.1871) and his Mother Catherine (b.1843) in Whycocomagh, Inverness County. I understand she was "adopted" and took the name McClean remaing with the family after her time was completed altghough I know nothing of what happend to her from then on. It was while looking for information on Angus & Catherine and their lives as farmer in Canada that I came across this site.
I would be very interested in any information on Angus and his family and of couse on Eliza (Elizabeth / Lizzie) and what became of her. |

My PEI MACLEAN Descendents JOHN 1798-1877 married MARION INGLIS Lot 14 PEI son JOHN A 1843-1926 married LYDIA SOPHIA MACARTHUR in 1876 son HERMAN LESLIE 1882-1954 married CATHERINE ELLA PHILLIPS in 1904 son HORACE WILLARD 1918-2000 married FLORANCE DYMENT in 1939 son WILLARD LEIGH 1940-2003.
I found a book called "Climbing The Hill" by J. Birch. I was delighted to find a basic history and great pictures. " I never seen what my dad looked like as a boy" Awesome!
I hope I'm allowed to recommend another great source. Look for books by DONALD WHYTE Scotland to Canada.
I will go on to include other lines connected McWilliams,Dyment,Bulger>PEI.
