I am a Lachlan MacLean and Annie MacPhee fifth generation child. My line comes through Roderick, Peter Stephen, Neil Peter Stephen, and Neil Stephen who married Annie Mae (Nickname - Mary Anne) MacLennan from Benacacie West, Cape Breton, were my parents. I am married to a Dean and have two children and three grandchilren. There are five other girls in my family. I have one brother, John Neil Mac Lean, and he and I are involved in this research of our family tree at the present time. He has one son. I am trying to find information on my Great Grandfather William H. McLean. He was born in Ontario, Canada on September 13,1866 (not sure if the year is correct but he was born in the 1860's). My grandmother told me he ran away from home at a young age and came to the United States. He lived in Saginaw, Michigan for a while and then moved to Missouri and started working for the railroad. He met and married my great grandmother, Lena Rohlfing. Lena's family came from Germany and were living in Kentucky and moved to Missouri. We do not know anything about my great grandfather's parents except they may have owned or ran a hotel in Ontario. We do not know if he even had any brothers and sisters. If anyone can point me in the right direction as to where to start looking for information, I'd appreciate it. Thank you! |

My grandfather was Cameron MacLean from Chatham New Brunswick - married to Irene - died in the 1950's. My mother was Jeanne Alexandria MacLean - and I was always told the Jeanne came from the Queen of France - thus explaining the French spelling when the French were not thought very well of by the Scottish. Very curious about my history and wondering where to start - found you - and here I am. Any information you could provide would be appreciated. My mother had four brothers, Bill, Burt, Ivan and Jim and it was thought Jim died aboard a famous ship which sank.

my husband's great grandmother was Mary Ann McLean, dau of Laughlin McLean and Catherine McKay. She was born in Cape Breton about 1840. In 1881, at age 38, she is married to William H. Masters, with a daughter named Harriet Louise Masters, age 2 living in Charlottetown, PEI. There are (2) younger individuals named McLean living with them in the 1881 census - Daniel 18, and Mary J 24. We do not know their relationship, if any. Wm, Mary Ann, and Harriet emigrated to the US shortly thereafter. Mary Ann died in 1902; her husband in 1915. We'd love to make more connections if anyone recognizes any of these names. |

Thanks to Murray MacLean, the president of CLAN MACLEAN ATLANTIC for contacting me and inviting me to this site. I will return often. My father was Charles Archibald McLean, born 1920 in Charlottetown, PEI. His father was William McLean, also of Charlottetown. I have lost touch with my relatives there, and will be looking for ways to relocate them.
